The days when public bodies carried on their affairs in private are long behind us. In this era of the internet, the tools are now there to keep us all informed about local planning and let us get more involved in local debates. These days, it has become expected that all organisations, whether private sector, voluntary or public, will have a website that at the very least makes key information freely available. Really good sites also allow people to make their views known. Businesses have not been slow to gather marketing information in this way, and it gives local councils (as well as other bodies) a great way to consult their residents.

Nailsworth Town Council has had a website for many years, and members have email addresses to enable members of the public to contact them online. But it was good to hear at a recent Town Hall meeting that the Council is now overhauling their web presence to bring it fully up to date and expand what is on offer. Along with that, it seems that they are improving their email facility. We applaud these developments, and look forward to seeing the revamped site in due course.
