How to reduce your energy bills by being more energy efficient. There will be a meeting on Wed 10 March at 7.30 pm in the Primary School, to consider how we in Nailsworth can reduce our carbon footprint, and improve our energy efficiency. Not only will residents of Nailsworth, be they owners or tenants, benefit directly from this on a personal basis, but it will also help us collectively by contributing to the UKÕs energy security in the longer term. The meeting is a joint venture between the Town Council and SWEA (the Severn Wye Energy Agency), and follows on from the Energy Savings Trust Questionnaire in the January edition of The Fountain. Incidentally, if you have not yet completed yours, now is the time to do so. Our apologies to St DominicÕs School, which was inadvertently renamed St MargaretÕs in our last edition. We donÕt intend to make a habit of changing the titles of local educational institutions! Views expressed in this paper are those of the author and not necessarily those of the Nailsworth News team. From 27th February for two months the exhibition room will be given over to paintings by Rosalind Wise. After university and training at Goldsmiths College Rosalind taught art in secondary schools before coming to Gloucestershire in 1980 and settling down to paint seriously; she still teaches part time. Her inspiration comes very much from nature and particularly the interactions of colour and light in fields and gardens. She likes to paint large Ð ÔI would like looking at my work to be an experience rather than looking at a little pretty picture!Õ Go and see! Old Market off licence re-opens By the time you read this the old Threshers store in Old Market should have reopened as ÔNailsworth Wines and SpiritsÕ. This is ÔJazzÕ MannÕs baby and we wish him well with this enterprise. The store will not be part of any chain but a fully independent retailer. We hope to bring you a more detailed introduction to the business in a future issue. From the Mayor Town Council Elections We shall be calling another Town Meeting in Spring, as last year. There will be a specific item on the Community Hall for report and discussion. We did answer fully to the town at the last meeting and this helped in the eventual decision to proceed. Do you need a Hall!? The Temporary Hall must be removed before the work on the permanent hall starts. It is available free of charge to a local community group (priority to those in the Nailsworth area). Enquiries to me please at 833458 and a definite letter of confirmation to the Council by the end of March. Elections for the Town Council are to be held on 25/03/2010. Two positions are available due to the resignations of Alan Wheeler and John Bratby. Both councillors have made it clear from correspondence with the local newspaper that they have resigned on the issue of The Forest Green Community Centre. This is your opportunity as Nailsworth Residents to have your voice on the Council on this and all the other issues in Nailsworth. .. ..
